About + Contact

I'm Constança, crafter, seamstress, baker, trees and flowers lover, experimental homemaker. My friends and family call me Concha. In a former life I studied Law and History, but chose to pursue a creative career instead. I was born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal, lived in rural England for 3 years and now I'm based in New Zealand's North Island.

I started this blog in late 2006 because I was developing a strong interest in sewing. As my life evolved so did the blog and before I knew it I was sharing corners of my home, cakes, books, sewing tutorials, my first attempts at gardening, glimpses of my travels, and my life as a new mother. This blog makes me focus on the best moments of my life and that's great, because that's precisely what I want to celebrate every single day.

I believe in making things by hand. Life is more than just buy, buy, buy. I can actually make a lot of things: pillows for your sofa, bread and jam for breakfast... you can even grow your own salad greens! Just give it a go — the process is fun and if you don't love the results, just try again or move on to something else. And if you do these things in tune with the seasons, your life will be much more magical. I mean, who wants to eat insipid, mutant strawberries in mid-winter? Wouldn't you rather brew a cup of tea and eat a slice of chocolate cake?

My aim is to inspire you and to invite you to come along this journey with me. Feel free to explore my archives (all organised by labels) and check out my tutorials + recipes page. If you'd like to learn more, just follow my page on Facebook or drop me an email at constancaspc@gmail.com.
