Toda a gente fala na extraordinária beleza natural da Nova Zelândia. Temos muita vontade de explorar o país e ver tudo isso com os nossos olhos, mas a verdade é que o nosso dia-a-dia é bastante normal. Vivemos numa vila agradável numa zona de quintas, em que o terreno é relativamente plano e as estradas são todas a direito. Mas de vez em quando há surpresas! Basta andar meia-hora de carro para nos depararmos com sítios muito bonitos, como este Manawatu Gorge, por exemplo.
Agora uma pergunta para quem conhece bem a Nova Zelândia: que sítios recomendam que visitemos?
Everyone talks about the extraordinary natural beauty of New Zealand. We are eager to explore the country and see everything with our own eyes, but truth is our daily life is pretty normal. We live in a nice town surrounded by farms, where the land is quite flat and the roads are long and straight. However, you only have to get in the car and travel for half an hour to find some gems, like the Manawatu Gorge pictured above.
And now a question for those amongst you that know New Zealand well: which places do you recommend we visit?

ReplyDeleteCoromandel - the town itself and any of the beautiful beaches in the area
Lake Taupo
Matakana, Leigh, Pakiri Beach and Waipu - all about an hour north of Auckland.
Have fun exploring
We loved the Tongariro Crossing day walk, we used to live in Wellington and loved it, Te Papa was so much fun for the kids it's free and the earthquake house and giant sandpit outside where you can dig up (fake) dinosaur bones is fun. Picton and Nelson are beautiful and need to be seen, the architecture in Napier is interesting art deco (rebuilt after the large earthquake), Taupo is beautiful, oh so many lovely memories and favourites...

ReplyDeleteTanya, I went to the earthquake house in Te Papa and I am seriously still in shock. My goodness, I was really impressed by it all. It frightened the hell out of me!
All of the above! For something really amazing though, visit the giant Kauri trees in Waipoua forest. Nothing can prepare you for this - the wonder of them goes far beyond their size.
ReplyDeleteThe south island is beautiful. The beaches of the west coast, Fox Glacier, and Fiordland - especially Milford Sound is stunning. Definitely worth the trip!!

There's nothing quite so beautiful as traveling the main highway down to Kaikoura on a sunny winter's day when on one side of you there is snow on the Kaikoura mountains and on the other side, you have the sparkling sea. The little penguins of Sandfly Bay on the Otago Peninsula are worth the climb back on the enormous sandhill (and in a couple of years Rodrigo will love running down it). And Wanaka in autumn is beautiful, but try and avoid it when the crowds are all there. On a good summer's day south island East coast white sand beaches, especially those of Banks peninsula and further south, Oamaru, Moreaki, Karitane and Warrington. (there must be the equivalent of these in the North Island)

ReplyDeleteNa Ilha do Norte recomendo: Auckland, a praia onde foi filmado o filme O Piano e onde há uma comunidade de Alcatrazes, Rotorua a capital do enxofre, sai fumo de todo o lado... além do cheiro, é genial!
Na ilha d Sul: Milford Sound é top e fazer a viagem para queenstown de Helicoptero é mágico! Os mirror lakes, o Monte Cook,
as Waitomo Glowworm Caves que são uma grutas que têm umas minhocas luminosas presas no teto da gruta e que ao passarmos parecem o céu estrelado, wanaka, lago tekapo onde há umas piscinas quentes 36º a 40º ao ar livre, estivemos lá com 3 graus e dentro da piscina estava fantástico! Queensland a capital da aventura, subindo o teleférico tem uma vista BRUTAL a não perder!!! Dunedin, cidade mais antiga e mais histórica e onde existe a rua mais ingreme do mundo! Muito bom! Boas Viagens! :)
Estou longe de conhecer bem a nova zelandia. Mas estive lá (aí) faz uns anos e adorei!
ReplyDeleteComo tinha apenas 2 semanas visitei só a ilha do sul, embora tenha aterrado em wellington.
A travessia de barco entre as ilhas é um paseio lindissimo.
Fiz uma caminhada no parque Abel Tansman que gostei imenso (os neozelandeses levavam os filhos em marsupiais ou mochilas proprias por isso o Rodrigo também pode ir.)
Milford Sound é um classico mas não deixa de ser incrivel.
Mas do que mais gostei mesmo foi da viagem em si. De andar/passear de carro pelas estradas quase sem transito e sempre acompanhadas por paisagens de cortar a respiração.
